Take Another Look – DAY 15

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” (John 4:34)Aren’t you glad that Jesus concluded His work on earth, declaring “It is finished!” (John 19:30) and so completed His mission to restore us back to a right relationship with God?

God wants us to finish, not just start, things that will bear great fruit. We can be full of vision and have great ideas to launch new projects and programs but it is our commitment to finish well that determines the outcome.

Think of Nehemiah who was appointed to rebuild the walls in Jerusalem. He had plenty of opposition attempting to stop him but he was more focused on successfully completing the task at hand. The result was that the walls were completed in 52 days (read Nehemiah chapter 6).

A key for us is to recognise that not everything is important enough to demand our time and energy to complete it.  Hearing and heeding the instructions of the Lord make it clear what we specifically need to give attention to.

It is always a good idea to stop and evaluate some of the things we have started and ask ourselves the following questions:

  • What are projects that I can or should let go of?
  • What are projects, both personal and professional, that clearly need to be completed?
Jesus spoke of counting the cost to achieve the final result to go the distance.“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it.” (Luke 14:28 NKJV)My prayer for you today is that you receive clarity from the Lord to know what is needed for you to finish His work.

TODAY: TAKE ANOTHER LOOK… at finishing His work.
